Ones Word: Peaches

A model,  journalist, TV Presenter and daughter of musician Sir Bob Geldof, this 22 year old has got it made. A talented writer at the age of 14, Peaches worked as a columnist for The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph and has continued her career since becoming a monthly contributor to Nylon Magazine and Cleo Australia. She's wrote and presented her own documentary and has constant press attention for her lashes of style not to mention her hasty marriage and divorce of 23 year old musician Max Drummey of Boston band Chester French. Oh and I forgot to mention her ex is Faris Rotter from the Horrors..of course!

Portraying a less grunge orientated look as her sister Pixie, Peaches has a really interesting personal style. It's the innocence of preppy chic meets black lace and a bad ass attitude.  She seems like she would be the ultimate best friend! Get the Peaches look: Become and LBD queen, adopt collars and the three quarter sleeve, acquire a few berets, some statement jewelry and grow your hair long.

2011 AUTUMN/WINTER Trend: BRIGHTS...

Okay so the concept of ‘brights’ and colour infused block basics teamed with more in your face acidic statement pieces look great right on the catwalk right; edgy and sleek on a 'bangin' model BUT after this trend has filtered down to a commercial level and become the past on the designer stage...it's going to start to get ugly; real ugly.
“I am a little bit frightened to say the least.”

As a generation that has been through some terrible trends, including crocs, waist belts and we cannot forget the infamous glow stick, zinc lips, florescent, 80's dance inspired phase that dominated underage dance parties and every strobe light around the nation. That offence can never be forgotten and I am very proud to say I did not participate fashion-wise!
If I see the words Cobolt, Crimson, Melon or Jade one more time I will probably never shop again. Big statement!
This is a small bulk of my wardrobe…yes I know, I’m screwed.

Kudo’s to those flamboyant folk out there who can pull off these intense shades but for now I think I’m content living in the shadows. If you feel you can tame this sensation send me a photograph and I’ll feature you on Moda Allure! I would love to see someone local doing this trend some justice because I haven’t really seen much progression from store to street. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!  (elkeflint@hotmail.com)

Colour trends for Spring/Summer 2012, to my liking will slowly steer away from this neon nightmare! Expect more subdued tones- think peach, moss, lavender, apricot and even charcoal.  For this I cannot wait!

Now everyone knows that some people especially celebrities just have the eye for flair and fashion in general, so as to not leave this trend on a down note, here’s a few style inspirations to make it a little more bearable :)

Life Long Lovers: Bird and Prey

If Foals and The Horrors were physically able to make sweet sweet musical love, their love child would be the rapturous five-piece from the Sunshine Coast known as Bird and Prey.
The talents of Joshua Aubry (vocals), Angus Duhram (guitar/keys), Beau Jenkins (drums), Beau Travers (guitar) and Adi Ross (bass) are gaining these boys a strong reputation in the local music scene, not to mention their cult like followers with coincidentally snazzy shoes. With catchy tunes, a strong look and having just release their first EP  Costs of a Wasted Youth, this is a band to look out for.
Having been to my fare share of Bird and Prey gigs, I can vouch for everyone present...you will dance! They never fail to infuse their audience with a hysteric energy, rampant foot tapping and lyrical screaming. You then of course find yourself taking a cherished CD labelled 'mongrel' (that was thrown at your face during the gig), back to the safety of your bedroom to repeating the whole process again and dream with heartache that People Say was written about you. Not necessarily my anecdote.

Besides being in love with these boys as friends, I can understand (but still giggle to myself) when I see girls screaming (painfully) whenever Josh gets close to jumping off stage or when they get asked for autographs at the local shopping center. Agh, I love Bird and Prey Hype!
On a fashion note, oh my I am in paradise! Decked to the high heavens with statement blazers, button ups, bowler hats and on occasion Hawaiian shirts and/or matching 1940's inspired get ups, suspenders and all! There style is like every young bands- accidental and casually stylish. Who doesn't love a bunch of attractive lads who are musically talented and look amazing in the simplest of attire? Ahh hello, my dream?
Not to single anyone one out, but is it not agreeable that Joshua could very much be the sixth member of The Horrors! Apart from knowing him personally and his unconditional love for that band, he has the look down pat and the attitude to match. Vests and shiny shoes, oh Joshua, Farris is waiting :)

JOSHUA AUBRY IS THE NEW FARRIS ROTTER.....well looks wise anyway, but minus the nose and its unique gravitational pull.

Well...All in all....Check em out. Whether your into it or not, dare you to try not to hum along after you've had a little Bird and Prey session. :)

Gotye will never cease to amaze.

Gotye Ft. Kimbra Somebody That I Used To Know
This song is incredible, it hits you i the right places and is dominated by passion and emotion. My favorite Gotye song is Hearts A Mess, but this comes in as a close second for sure. Th creative direction in the clip is really unique, I mean of course incorporating artwork into film has been done before  but I love how imperfect and almost childlike it is in the clip. I guess love isn't neat huh?

Vogue: July Cover Girl Emma Watson

Emma Watson.
Elegant. Sweet. Playful. Classic.
I have had a not-so-secret love for this girl (in regard to fashion of course!) for some time now. She has taken the fashion world by storm after filming the last part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; braving that adorable pixie cut, becoming the face of Burberry, acting as creative director to her own Eco Clothing line for People Tree and to top it all off she recently announced she is going to be the new celebrity face of Lancome Paris! This girl is living the dream. Her down to earth attitude and sweet, innocent persona makes her such an adored famous figure and personally has been a great style inspiration! Being a massive HP nerd probably has some influence on the degree of obsession haha.
Emma is this months Cover Girl for Vogue, check out this video for behind the scenes of her shoot with photography Mario Testino.

Emma's personal style is forever changing; from rocking the mini, to the boyfriend blazer and classic sweater and jeans. She is the definition of classic style and preppy chic.

Get the Look: Lisa Simpson

The Simpsons is one of our generations all time classic cartoons, but have you ever wondered about its real life equivalents? I'm not talking about physical human features (or the computer generated human Simpsons characters; google 'the simpsons human' to see what I am talking about), but their personal style and how we don't even notice it when watching. Their clothes identify, it is a part of them. The one true episode of The Simpsons where Lisa actually looks cool is Episode: Summer 2 ft 4.   She has the beatnick "ya know, whateverrr" look down pat and it never fails to give me a smile. Below is a little collaboration a made to get Lisa's boho style. I admit it is a little strange seeing physical items and it's never quite the same as her original outfit which I think is brilliant. Enjoy.

60's ICON: Jane Birkin

London born singer, actress, model, directer, activist and of course (French song writer) Serge Gainsbourg's muse, Jane Birkin is no doubt a 60's fashion icon. Armed with the era identifying bangs and legs to the high heavens, Birkin's knee high boots, tiny shorts, baggy sweaters, seductive minis, high waisted jeans and loose jackets made her the envy of a decade. Her bohohemian mod look is so simple but oozes character, teamed with minimalistic accessories such as chains, daisy chain head pieces and large sunglasses, her style reflects ease but leaves room for her personality to be dominant. Many of her style elements can be seen today, next time your out and about do a little people watching..who's been influenced by Jane Birkin and not even realise it?
