Okay so the concept of ‘brights’ and colour infused block basics teamed with more in your face acidic statement pieces look great right on the catwalk right; edgy and sleek on a 'bangin' model BUT after this trend has filtered down to a commercial level and become the past on the designer stage...it's going to start to get ugly; real ugly.
“I am a little bit frightened to say the least.”
As a generation that has been through some terrible trends, including crocs, waist belts and we cannot forget the infamous glow stick, zinc lips, florescent, 80's dance inspired phase that dominated underage dance parties and every strobe light around the nation. That offence can never be forgotten and I am very proud to say I did not participate fashion-wise!
If I see the words Cobolt, Crimson, Melon or Jade one more time I will probably never shop again. Big statement!
This is a small bulk of my wardrobe…yes I know, I’m screwed.
Kudo’s to those flamboyant folk out there who can pull off these intense shades but for now I think I’m content living in the shadows. If you feel you can tame this sensation send me a photograph and I’ll feature you on Moda Allure! I would love to see someone local doing this trend some justice because I haven’t really seen much progression from store to street. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT! (elkeflint@hotmail.com)
Colour trends for Spring/Summer 2012, to my liking will slowly steer away from this neon nightmare! Expect more subdued tones- think peach, moss, lavender, apricot and even charcoal. For this I cannot wait!
Now everyone knows that some people especially celebrities just have the eye for flair and fashion in general, so as to not leave this trend on a down note, here’s a few style inspirations to make it a little more bearable :)
